Inspired by Irving Penn’s “Cigarettes”, this series started simply with a forgotten pumpkin slowly rotting on the back porch. From there I began to explore my neighborhood and random alleyways downtown for various items that appealed to me aesthetically and thematically.
Each item encourages the viewer to imagine its history, a compelling yet tragic story that culminates in the end to the particular condition in which we find it here.
